Savory Beef Martabak Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 10 sheets of spring roll wrappers (see spring roll recipe for details)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 stalks of lemongrass (finely chopped)
  • 200 grams of cooked beef (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves of garlic (crushed)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Black pepper (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a pan, sautรฉ the garlic until fragrant. Add the finely chopped beef, lemongrass, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the mixture is well-combined and the beef is fully cooked. Once done, remove from heat and set aside to cool.

  2. Assemble the Martabak: Lay out the spring roll wrappers on a flat surface. Spoon a portion of the beef mixture onto each wrapper. Fold the wrapper into a square shape, sealing the edges with beaten egg white to ensure they stay closed during frying.

  3. Fry the Martabak: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Carefully add the wrapped fillings to the hot oil. Fry until each side is golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

  4. Serve: Your savory beef martabak is now ready to be enjoyed. Serve warm as a delightful snack or appetizer.
