Boti Masala Chaat Recipe – Fryums Chaat
An exciting South Indian snack that delivers a delightful crunch and burst of flavors in every bite!

Description:
The Boti Masala Chaat, also known as Fryums Chaat, is a playful and crunchy snack loved by both kids and adults alike. The unique aspect of this chaat lies in the crispy and lightly spiced Botis – golden-fried fryums cut into boat shapes. These crispy boats are filled with a refreshing Indian salad made with onions, grated carrots, and seasoned with tangy lemon juice and salt. A drizzle of sweet-tangy chutneys (coriander mint chutney and date tamarind chutney) adds an explosion of flavors, while puffed rice and sev provide additional crunch. Each bite is a mouthful of exciting textures, making it the perfect evening snack or party appetizer.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Botis:
Begin by cutting the Botis (fryums) horizontally into halves, ensuring they form boat-like shapes. These will serve as the crispy base for your chaat.

  2. Make the Salad Filling:
In a mixing bowl, combine finely chopped onions and grated carrots. Add lemon juice and a pinch of salt to the mixture, then toss well to combine. Set this refreshing salad filling aside.

  3. Assemble the Boti Masala Chaat:
On a serving platter, arrange the Botis in a single layer. For each boat-shaped fryum, add a teaspoon of both Green Chutney (Coriander & Mint) and Sweet Chutney (Date & Tamarind).

  4. Fill the Boats:
Now, carefully fill each of the Botis with the prepared onion-carrot salad mixture. Sprinkle a little red chili powder on top to give a touch of spice.

  5. Add the Garnishes:
For the final touch, garnish the Boti Masala Chaat with puffed rice and sev to enhance the texture and make it irresistibly crunchy.

  6. Serve:
Serve this Boti Masala Chaat immediately as an exciting evening snack or appetizer. It pairs wonderfully with a hot cup of Cinnamon Spiced Black Lemon Tea or a classic Masala Chai – perfect for enjoying with family and friends!

Enjoy this unique South Indian appetizer packed with crunch, spice, and everything nice!
