Ingredients:
- 1 cup milk
- 2 3/4 cups cake flour
- 5 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup milk (additional)
- 6 ounces butter (for glaze)
- 9 ounces chocolate (for glaze)
- 6 peppermint candies (crushed, for garnish)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Cake:
- Begin by preheating your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and flour a 12-cup Bundt pan to ensure the cake releases easily after baking.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the 9 ounces of chocolate and 1 cup of milk. Heat in the microwave at 20-second intervals, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is fully melted and smooth. Set this aside.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the cake flour, baking powder, and salt. This will be your dry mixture.
- Using a mixer, beat the softened butter with the sugar at high speed until the mixture becomes light and fluffy. Reduce the mixer speed to medium and add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then, mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the additional 2/3 cup of milk. Begin and end with the dry mixture, beating just until combined. Beat for an additional minute to ensure everything is well mixed.
- Transfer 1 cup of the batter to a separate bowl and stir in the melted chocolate mixture you prepared earlier. This will create your chocolate batter.
-
Assemble and Bake:
- Pour 5 cups of the plain batter into the prepared Bundt pan. Drop half of the chocolate batter over the plain batter in the pan.
- Use a knife to swirl through the batters, creating a marbled effect.
- Add the remaining plain batter on top, followed by the rest of the chocolate batter. Swirl the knife through the batters once more to marble them nicely.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 30 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
Prepare the Glaze:
- For the glaze, combine the remaining 6 ounces of chocolate and 6 tablespoons of butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave at 10-second intervals, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is completely melted and smooth.
- Pour the glaze over the cooled cake, spreading it evenly. If desired, garnish with crushed peppermint candies for an extra festive touch.
