Fiery Shredded Tuna Sambal Delight

Spicy Shredded Tuna (Sambal Tongkol Suwir)

Ingredients:

  • 6 pieces of tuna (sliced)
  • 2 small red tomatoes
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 3 shallots
  • 5 red curly chilies
  • 7 bird’s eye chilies (or to taste)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sasa seasoning, to taste
  • Magic seasoning, if desired

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Spice Paste: In a mortar and pestle, grind together the garlic, shallots, red curly chilies, and bird’s eye chilies. Aim for a slightly coarse texture; a smooth paste is not necessary.

  2. Shred the Tuna: Using your hands or a knife, shred the sliced tuna into smaller pieces.

  3. Clean the Tuna: Rinse the shredded tuna under clean water to remove any residual impurities.

  4. Cook the Spice Paste: Heat some oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the ground spice paste to the pan and sauté until fragrant.

  5. Add the Tuna: Incorporate the shredded tuna into the pan with the sautéed spices. Stir well to ensure the tuna is evenly coated with the spice paste.

  6. Season to Taste: Add salt and Sasa seasoning to taste. For an extra flavor boost, consider adding Magic seasoning if desired.

  7. Adjust the Flavor: Taste the dish and adjust the seasoning if necessary.

  8. Serve: Once the tuna is well-seasoned and heated through, remove from heat and serve as a flavorful side dish or main course.
