Barbecue Chicken with Mushrooms

Ingredients:

  • 500g chicken wings
  • 100g button mushrooms
  • 1/2 medium onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp Kikkoman soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp barbecue sauce
  • 1 tbsp sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • A pinch of black pepper and salt
  • Cooking oil
  • 100ml water

Instructions:

  1. Begin by washing the chicken wings thoroughly. Pat dry with paper towels.

  2. Heat cooking oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken wings until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove from the pan and set aside.

  3. Thinly slice the button mushrooms, onion, and garlic cloves.

  4. In the same pan, sauté the sliced mushrooms, onion, and garlic until they are softened and fragrant. Add the Kikkoman soy sauce, oyster sauce, barbecue sauce, sweet soy sauce, black pepper, and salt. Stir well to combine.

  5. Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a simmer.

  6. Return the fried chicken wings to the pan. Stir to coat the chicken wings evenly with the sauce. Allow the chicken to simmer in the sauce until it has absorbed the flavors and the sauce has thickened slightly.

  7. Once the sauce has thickened and the chicken wings are fully cooked and coated, remove from heat.

  8. Serve the barbecue chicken with mushrooms hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired, alongside warm rice or your preferred side dish.

Enjoy this flavorful and aromatic barbecue chicken dish, perfect for a satisfying meal any day of the week!
