Ingredients:
Quantity | Ingredient |
---|---|
1 | Egg |
1 | cup Water |
1 | box Brownie Mix |
1/4 | cup All-purpose Flour |
1/2 – 3/4 | cup Cocoa Powder (optional) |
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (160Β°C).
- Prepare Dough: In a large bowl, pour the brownie mix. For an extra chocolatey flavor, you can optionally stir in cocoa powder.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: Using a wooden spoon, stir in the egg and water until the mixture is smooth and free of any lumps.
- Incorporate Flour: Gradually add the all-purpose flour, about 1/4 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add just enough flour so that the batter becomes quite stiff, resembling dough. Depending on the consistency of your brownie mix, you may not need the entire 1/4 cup of flour.
- Shape Mummies: Roll 1 rounded tablespoon of dough into a 3 1/2 inch-long carrot shape for the body of the mummy. Then, roll 1 rounded teaspoon of dough into a grape shape for the head, and press it onto the wide end of the mummy’s body. Place the shaped mummies on a greased cookie sheet, leaving about 1/2 inch of space between each.
- Prepare Ghosts: Roll 1 rounded tablespoon of dough into a ball and place it on a greased cookie sheet, gently flattening it. Shape the flattened dough into a triangle using your thumb and index finger. Roll another rounded teaspoon of dough into a ball for the head, and place it on the tip of the triangle. Press down gently to seal the head to the body. Repeat with the remaining dough.
- Bake: Bake the cookies in the center of the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until they feel firm to the touch.
- Cool: Remove the cookies from the oven and transfer them to a wire rack to cool. The cookies may crack slightly, but they will be covered with frosting.
- Decorate Mummies: Once cooled, spread about 1 1/2 tablespoons of frosting over each mummy cookie. To create a “bandage” effect, use your finger or a toothpick to swirl through the frosting, moving from the head towards the bottom of the cookie. Add chocolate chips for eyes.
- Frost Ghosts: Slightly melt 1 cup of frosting in the microwave on high for 20-30 seconds. Spread the melted frosting over the entire surface of each ghost cookie. This will give them a glossy effect and a ghostly shimmer.
