1 can | Sweetened Condensed Milk |
4 tsp | Vanilla Extract |
1 cup | Butter |
1 cup | Brown Sugar |
1 1/4 tsp | Vanilla Extract |
2 tsp | Baking Soda |
1/2 tsp | Salt |
1 cup | All-Purpose Flour |
2 cups | Old Fashioned Oats |
2 cups | Semisweet Chocolate Chips |
1/2 cup | M&M’s or Chocolate Chips |
Instructions:
-
Preparation: Heat oven to 350°F. Line a 13×9-inch baking pan with foil, letting ends extend about 2 inches above the pan. Lightly coat with nonstick spray.
-
Prepare Filling: In a microwave-safe 1-quart glass measure, combine sweetened condensed milk and semisweet chocolate chips. Microwave on high until steaming hot. Let stand for 1 minute until chocolate melts and the mixture is well blended and thickened. Stir in 4 tsp of vanilla extract.
-
Prepare Dough: In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter, brown sugar, 1 1/4 tsp of vanilla extract, baking soda, and salt until fluffy.
-
Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add all-purpose flour to the butter mixture and beat just until blended.
-
Add Oats: Stir in old-fashioned oats until the mixture becomes crumbly.
-
Assembly: Press 2/3 of the oat mixture firmly over the bottom of the prepared baking pan. Spread the chocolate mixture evenly over the oat layer. Sprinkle the remaining oat mixture and M&M’s (or chocolate chips) over the chocolate layer.
-
Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned on top.
-
Cool: Allow the bars to cool in the pan on a wire rack.
-
Cut and Serve: Once cooled, lift the foil by ends to a cutting board and cut into 48 bars.
