Servings: 48 Bars

Ingredients:

Quantity Ingredient
1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk
4 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 cup Butter
1 cup Brown Sugar
1 1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract
2 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 tsp Salt
1 cup All-Purpose Flour
2 cups Old Fashioned Oats
2 cups Semisweet Chocolate Chips
1/2 cup M&M’s or Chocolate Chips

Instructions:

  1. Preparation: Heat oven to 350°F. Line a 13×9-inch baking pan with foil, letting ends extend about 2 inches above the pan. Lightly coat with nonstick spray.

  2. Prepare Filling: In a microwave-safe 1-quart glass measure, combine sweetened condensed milk and semisweet chocolate chips. Microwave on high until steaming hot. Let stand for 1 minute until chocolate melts and the mixture is well blended and thickened. Stir in 4 tsp of vanilla extract.

  3. Prepare Dough: In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter, brown sugar, 1 1/4 tsp of vanilla extract, baking soda, and salt until fluffy.

  4. Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add all-purpose flour to the butter mixture and beat just until blended.

  5. Add Oats: Stir in old-fashioned oats until the mixture becomes crumbly.

  6. Assembly: Press 2/3 of the oat mixture firmly over the bottom of the prepared baking pan. Spread the chocolate mixture evenly over the oat layer. Sprinkle the remaining oat mixture and M&M’s (or chocolate chips) over the chocolate layer.

  7. Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned on top.

  8. Cool: Allow the bars to cool in the pan on a wire rack.

  9. Cut and Serve: Once cooled, lift the foil by ends to a cutting board and cut into 48 bars.
