1/4 tsp Salt
1 cup Pecan pieces
25 Caramels
1/4 cup Butter or margarine
2 tbsp Milk
2 cups Chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Prepare the Pan:

    • Line a 9-inch square baking pan with foil, ensuring the foil extends over the edges of the pan.
    • Grease and flour the foil to prevent sticking.
  3. Make the Brownie Batter:

    • In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, 2 tablespoons of butter, and 2 tablespoons of water.
    • Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture boils.
    • Remove from heat and immediately add 1 cup of chocolate chips. Stir until melted.
    • Beat in eggs and vanilla extract until well blended.
    • Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt until combined.
    • Spread the batter into the prepared pan.
  4. Bake the Brownies:

    • Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan.
  5. Prepare the Caramel Topping:

    • While the brownies are baking, prepare the caramel topping.
    • Unwrap the 25 caramels and place them in a medium microwave-safe bowl.
    • Add 1/4 cup of butter or margarine and 2 tablespoons of milk to the bowl.
    • Microwave on HIGH for 1 minute, then stir.
    • Microwave for an additional 1 to 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until the caramels are melted and the mixture is smooth.
  6. Assemble the Bars:

    • Once the brownies are almost done baking, remove them from the oven.
    • Carefully spread the prepared caramel topping over the warm brownies.
    • Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of chocolate chips and pecan pieces over the caramel topping.
  7. Cool and Serve:

    • Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack, being careful not to disturb the chocolate chips while they are still soft.
    • Once cooled, lift the bars out of the pan using the foil overhang.
    • Cut into squares or bars and serve.
