Ingredients:

  • 14-16 slices of bread
  • 1 lb ham, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup grated cheese

  • 1/4 tsp mustard powder
  • 3/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 dashes of Tabasco sauce
  • 1 cup milk

  • Crushed Corn Flakes for topping

Instructions:

Step Description
1 Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9″ x 13″ baking pan.
2 Arrange enough slices of bread to cover the bottom of the greased baking dish.
3 Layer the bread with thinly sliced ham, grated cheese, chopped onions, and green pepper (if using).
4 Top with the remaining slices of bread.
5 In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, salt, pepper, mustard powder, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, and milk until well combined.
6 Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layers of bread in the baking dish.
7 Cover the dish and refrigerate overnight to allow the flavors to meld together.
8 In the morning, melt the butter or margarine and drizzle it over the top of the casserole.
9 Sprinkle crushed Corn Flakes over the buttered surface.
10 Bake the casserole, uncovered, in the preheated oven for 1 hour or until golden and set.
