Maryland Crab Cakes Recipe 🦀🍰

Description: If you have ever been to the Maryland area or once lived there, you would know how AWESOME the seafood is! This recipe will not disappoint you! It was handed down to me from my Mommom, who has lived in Delaware (Maryland’s Neighbor) her entire life. Please try it, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have over the years!

  • Cook Time: 5 minutes
  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Servings: 6-9 cakes

Ingredients:

Quantity Ingredient
1 Lump crabmeat
1/2 Egg
2 Mayonnaise
1/4 Teaspoon Pepper
1 Teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 Teaspoon Dry mustard
2 Bread crumbs

Instructions:

  1. Mix Together Creamy Base: In a mixing bowl, combine eggs, mayonnaise, OLD BAY seasoning, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and dry mustard until creamy and well blended.

  2. Incorporate Bread Crumbs: Gradually add bread crumbs to the creamy mixture, stirring until evenly combined.

  3. Add Crab Meat: Gently fold in the lump crab meat, ensuring it is evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

  4. Shape Into Cakes: With your hands, form the mixture into cakes, either making 6 large or 9 medium-sized crab cakes, depending on your preference.

  5. Cooking Option 1 – Stovetop: Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Cook the crab cakes for about 5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and heated through.

  6. Cooking Option 2 – Broil: Alternatively, you can broil the crab cakes until browned. This method may require you to flip them halfway through cooking, depending on your pan and broiler.

  7. Serve: Serve the crab cakes hot, accompanied by tartar sauce and lemon wedges for a burst of flavor.

Tips:

  • For a delightful variation, try a crabcake sandwich by placing a crab cake on a Martin’s Brand potato roll, topped with tartar sauce and crisp lettuce.
