Ingredients:

  • 1 piece of fresh ginger
  • 10 cups of water
  • 1 cup of sugar

Instructions:

Step Description
1 Place the ginger in a large, non-aluminum bowl.
2 Pour in 4 cups of water, cover, and let stand undisturbed for 48 hours.
3 Line a sieve with cheesecloth and place it over a saucepan.
4 Strain the ginger water through the sieve, then add the sugar to the saucepan.
5 Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly.
6 Reduce the heat to medium and simmer the mixture, undisturbed, for 10 minutes.
7 Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the tea leaves.
8 Cover the saucepan and let the mixture steep for 5 minutes.
9 Strain the mixture into a large, heatproof pitcher.
10 Pour in the remaining 6 cups of water and stir well.
11 Cover the pitcher and refrigerate until well chilled.
12 Serve over cracked ice in tall glasses and enjoy!
