Servings: 12 rolls

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Active dry yeast 2 packets
Warm water 1 cup
Sugar 2/3 cup
Butter 1 cup
Salt 2 tsp
Eggs 2
All-purpose flour 7 cups
Milk 1 cup
Walnuts 1 1/2 cups
Raisins 1 1/2 cups
Ground cinnamon 3 tbsp
Margarine 1/2 cup
Brown sugar 1/2 cup
Pecans 2 cups

Instructions:

  1. In a cup, combine the active dry yeast, warm water, and 1 tsp of sugar. Stir well and set aside until foamy.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together the milk, remaining sugar, 1 cup of butter (melted), salt, and eggs until well combined.

  3. Add the yeast mixture to the bowl and stir to incorporate.

  4. Gradually add half of the flour to the mixture and beat until smooth.

  5. Stir in enough of the remaining flour until a stiff dough forms.

  6. Turn the dough out onto a well-floured surface and knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  7. Place the dough in a plastic bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk, approximately 1 1/2 hours.

  8. Once risen, punch down the dough and let it rest for 5 minutes.

  9. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a 15×20 inch rectangle.

  10. For the filling, spread half a cup of melted butter evenly over the dough.

  11. In a separate bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cups of sugar and the ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the buttered dough.

  12. Sprinkle the walnuts and raisins over the cinnamon sugar mixture.

  13. Roll up the dough tightly and pinch the edges together to seal.

  14. Cut the rolled dough into 12 slices.

  15. Coat the bottoms of a 13×9 inch baking pan and an 8-inch square pan with the remaining 1/2 cup of melted butter.

  16. Sprinkle the bottom of the pans with the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar.

  17. Place the cinnamon roll slices close together in the prepared pans.

  18. Let the rolls rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk, approximately 45 minutes.

  19. For the topping, in a saucepan, melt together the margarine, brown sugar, and remaining cinnamon over medium heat.

  20. Mix in the pecans and pour the mixture over the risen rolls.

  21. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  22. Bake the rolls for 25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

  23. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving and enjoy the ooey gooey goodness!
