Ingredients:

Quantity Ingredient
1 Margarine
1 Chicken broth
1 White pepper
1/4 Seasoning salt
1/4 Salt
1/4 Garlic
1/2 Carrot
1/2 Celery
1/2 Skim milk
1 -3 Half-and-half
1 1/2 Flour
1/2 Monterey Jack cheese
2 Cheddar cheese
1/2 Bacon bits
3/4 Shrimp
1/4 Crabmeat

Instructions:

  1. Preparation Time: 20 minutes

    • Gather all the necessary ingredients.
  2. Cooking Time: 1 hour 30 minutes

    • Melt margarine in a large pot over medium heat.
    • Add chicken broth, water, chopped onion, salt, tiger seasoning, and minced garlic. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for 45 minutes to an hour, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  3. Once the base is well-infused, it’s time to add heartiness to the chowder.

    • Toss in diced potatoes, carrots, and celery, and continue simmering until the potatoes are tender, typically about 15-20 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, prepare a thickening agent by combining a small amount of milk with flour until smooth.

    • Pour the mixture into the pot along with the remaining milk and half-and-half.
    • Bring the chowder to a gentle boil, then add grated Monterey Jack cheese, cheddar cheese, shrimp, and crabmeat, stirring continuously until the cheeses are melted and the seafood is heated through.
  5. Serving:

    • Ladle the piping hot chowder into bowls and garnish generously with crispy bacon bits for an added crunch and burst of flavor.

Enjoy your Crab & Shrimp Chowder! 🦀🍤
