Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC) to ensure it’s nice and hot when you’re ready to bake your chicken breasts.

  2. Prepare Baking Pan: Take a baking pan and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil along with 2 tablespoons of butter. Heat the pan until the butter is melted and bubbling slightly.

  3. Create Herb Mixture: Into this sizzling pan, pour in 2 tablespoons of white wine Worcestershire sauce for that tangy flavor. Add in 1/2 teaspoon of dried basil, giving it a lovely aromatic touch. Toss in 1/4 cup of finely chopped onion, 1/4 teaspoon of dried oregano, and 2 cloves of minced garlic to infuse the oil with delicious flavors. Finally, squeeze in the juice of 1/4 cup of fresh lemon for a zesty kick.

  4. Coat Chicken: Place 2 1/2 boneless chicken breasts into the pan, making sure each piece is nicely coated with the herb mixture. Turn them over a couple of times to ensure they’re soaking up all that herby goodness.

  5. Bake First Round: Slide the pan into the preheated oven, leaving it uncovered. Let the chicken bake for about 30 minutes. This gives the chicken a chance to cook through while absorbing all the flavors from the herb mixture.

  6. Turn and Bake More: After the initial 30 minutes, carefully take the pan out of the oven. Turn each chicken breast over to ensure even cooking. Pop it back into the oven for another 15 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and beautifully golden on the outside.

  7. Rest and Serve: Once the chicken is done, remove the pan from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes. This helps the juices redistribute, keeping the meat tender and succulent. Slice, plate, and serve these delicious herbed chicken breasts to your eagerly awaiting guests!

Serving Suggestions

  • Side Dishes: Pair these flavorful chicken breasts with your favorite sides like garlic mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a crisp salad.

  • Garnish Ideas: Sprinkle some fresh chopped parsley over the chicken just before serving for a burst of color and freshness.

  • Wine Pairing: This dish pairs wonderfully with a crisp white wine such as Sauvignon Blanc or a light-bodied Chardonnay.

Chef’s Tips

  • Thinner Cuts: If your chicken breasts are on the thicker side, consider slicing them horizontally to create thinner pieces. This helps them cook faster and more evenly.

  • Marinating Time: For even more flavor, marinate the chicken breasts in the herb mixture for 30 minutes to an hour before baking. This allows the flavors to penetrate the meat.

  • Check for Doneness: Always use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165ยฐF (74ยฐC) before serving.

  • Leftover Love: Use any leftover chicken in salads, wraps, or sandwiches for a quick and tasty meal the next day.
