Texas Tea Recipe ๐น
Overview:
A dear friend shared this recipe with me, which originally came from a wonderful community cookbook called “The Texas Experience.” It has a refreshing herbally taste and works just as well with decaf or regular tea. Texas Tea is really meant to be served ice-cold and very sweet, but I have left the amount of sweetener up to you.

Instructions:
-
Preparation: Bring water to a boil in a large pot.
-
Brewing: Add the tea bag, lemon drops (if using), and fresh mint leaves to the boiling water.
-
Steeping: Turn off the heat and let the mixture steep for your desired duration. Typically, I let it steep for about 15 minutes, but you can adjust according to your preference.
-
Straining: Once the tea has reached your desired strength, remove the tea bag and mint leaves. If you prefer a clearer tea, you can strain the mixture through a fine sieve.
-
Sweetening: At this point, you have the option to add sugar to your liking. Feel free to adjust the sweetness according to your taste preferences. You can add as much or as little sugar as you prefer.
-
Chilling: Chill the tea in the refrigerator until it’s thoroughly cold.
-
Serving: Serve the Texas Tea over ice in tall glasses. Optionally, garnish with a sprig of fresh mint or a slice of lemon for added flair.
Tips:
-
Adjust Sweetness: If you’re unsure about how sweet you want your Texas Tea, you can leave it unsweetened initially and add sweetener by the glass as it is served.
-
Dissolving Sugar: Adding sweetener when the tea is freshly brewed will help dissolve the sugar better. However, you can also stir in sugar to individual glasses if you prefer.
-
Variations: Feel free to experiment with different types of tea or add other flavorings such as citrus zest or spices to customize the taste according to your preferences.
-
Make Ahead: Texas Tea can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Just be sure to give it a good stir before serving to redistribute any settled ingredients.
-
Presentation: For a festive touch, serve the Texas Tea in mason jars with colorful straws or add fruit slices like oranges or strawberries for an extra pop of flavor and visual appeal.
Enjoy this refreshing Texas Tea on a hot summer day or whenever you’re craving a taste of the Southwest! ๐๐ต
