Years ago, when most farmers milked cows, cream was often used in baking. My grandmother and mother always made caramel sauce on their cinnamon rolls. I have adapted this recipe for the modern convenience of a bread machine, but have kept all of the old-fashioned taste.

Ingredients:

Instructions:
- Place dough ingredients in the bread machine in the order given.
- Press the dough cycle on your bread machine.
- While the dough is mixing, combine the filling ingredients. In a small bowl, mix 1/4 cup soft butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon. Stir well to mix and set aside.
- In another small bowl, combine 3/4 cup brown sugar with whipping cream. Stir the mixture together well and place it in the fridge.
- When the dough cycle has completed, remove the dough from the machine and place it on a floured surface.
- Roll the dough out to approximately a 16×10 inch rectangle using a rolling pin, adding more flour if necessary to prevent sticking.
- Spread the filling onto the dough, spreading it close to the edges.
- Roll up the dough jellyroll style, starting at the long edge. Pinch the seam closed.
- Slice the rolled dough into 1 1/2 inch thick slices.
- Place the slices in a 9×13 pan that has been lightly coated with non-stick spray.
- Allow the cinnamon rolls to rise in a warm place until they have doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).
- Just before placing the rolls in the oven, remove the caramel sauce from the fridge and give it a final stir.
- Evenly pour the caramel sauce over the rolls.
- Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until they are light golden brown.
- Let the rolls cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes, then invert them so that the gooey caramel sauce is on top.
- Store any leftovers in a tightly closed container. Leftovers can be warmed up in the microwave.
