Ingredients:

Quantity Ingredient
6 Golden Delicious Apples
1/2 Raisins
1/2 Walnuts
1/2 Brown Sugar
1/4 Water
1/4 Butter
1/2 Margarine
1/2 Ground Cinnamon
6 Candy Worms

Instructions:

  1. Core Apples: Start by coring the apples from the blossom ends, leaving the stem end intact. This will create cavities for stuffing.

  2. Stuff Apples: Mix the raisins and walnuts together, then stuff this mixture into the cavities of the cored apples. Make sure to distribute it evenly among all the apples.

  3. Prepare Pan: Set the stuffed apples, stems up, in a 7 x 12 inch pan. This arrangement will help them cook evenly.

  4. Prepare Syrup: In a separate mixing bowl, combine the brown sugar, water, butter, margarine, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. Stir this mixture over high heat until it boils, creating a delicious syrup.

  5. Pour Syrup: Once the syrup is hot and bubbling, pour it carefully around the apples in the pan. This will infuse them with flavor as they bake.

  6. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the pan of apples, uncovered, into the oven. Bake for about 30 to 35 minutes, basting the apples occasionally with the syrup. You’ll know they’re done when they’re tender and the skin starts to crack.

  7. Cool: Once the apples are finished baking, remove them from the oven. Let them cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Alternatively, you can let them cool to room temperature.

  8. Serve: Set each apple in a small bowl and spoon some of the syrup around the fruit. To add a playful touch, cut a hole in the top of each apple large enough to accommodate one of the candy worms. Insert one end of the worm into each apple, leaving the rest of it dangling out. Serve your wormy apples without explanation and watch the delight on your guests’ faces!

Enjoy your spooky and delicious Wormy Apples, perfect for Halloween or any festive occasion! 🎃🍏
