Recipe: Sesame Seed Biscuits 🍪

Description:

These Sesame Seed Biscuits are a firm favorite with kids as an after-school snack, thanks to their dangerously “moorish” taste! You might find yourself needing to make a double batch, especially with how quickly they disappear. A big shoutout to my friend Heather for sharing this delightful recipe!

Ingredients:

Quantity Ingredient
1 cup Rolled oats
1 cup Plain flour
1 cup Caster sugar
1/2 cup Sesame seeds
1 cup Margarine
3 tbsp Golden syrup
2 tsp Bicarbonate of soda
1/2 cup Hot water

Instructions:

  1. Melt Margarine and Golden Syrup: In a saucepan over low heat or in the microwave, melt the margarine and golden syrup until smooth.

  2. Prepare Bicarb Soda Mixture: In a small bowl, mix the bicarbonate of soda with hot water until well combined. Add this mixture to the melted margarine and golden syrup, stirring until fully incorporated.

  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, plain flour, caster sugar, and sesame seeds.

  4. Mix Wet Ingredients: Pour the melted margarine and golden syrup mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.

  5. Form Dough: Using your hands, shape the dough into small balls and place them onto lightly greased baking trays. Flatten each ball slightly with your fingers.

  6. Bake: Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F). Bake the biscuits for 15 minutes or until they are golden brown.

  7. Cool: Once baked, remove the biscuits from the oven and allow them to cool on the trays for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Enjoy these delightful Sesame Seed Biscuits as a tasty snack any time of the day! They’re perfect for lunchboxes, afternoon tea, or whenever you need a little treat.
