Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix well to ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed.

  2. Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Add orange juice, orange peel, shortening, and egg to the well.

  3. Mix the wet and dry ingredients together until well combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  4. Gently fold in the fresh cranberries and chopped nuts until they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

  5. Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Prepare your muffin tins by either greasing them or lining them with paper liners.

  6. Spoon the muffin batter into the prepared muffin tins, filling each cup about two-thirds full.

  7. Place the muffin tins in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the muffins are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. Once baked, remove the muffins from the oven and allow them to cool in the tin for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

  9. Serve these delicious Cranberry Nut Muffins warm or at room temperature, and enjoy the burst of flavors with every bite!

These muffins are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. You can also freeze them for longer storage, simply thaw them at room temperature or reheat them gently in the microwave before serving. Enjoy the festive flavors of cranberry and nut in every bite of these delicious muffins!
