Ingredients:

  • 3/4 pound bulk pork sausage
  • 2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Additional butter for brushing

Instructions:

Step Instructions
1 Begin by browning the pork sausage in a skillet until fully cooked. Once done, drain any excess grease and set aside.
2 In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Cut in the butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
3 Stir the cooked sausage into the flour mixture until evenly distributed.
4 In a separate bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in warm water and let it stand for about five minutes until it becomes frothy.
5 Once the yeast is ready, add the buttermilk to it and stir to combine.
6 Pour the yeast and buttermilk mixture into the dry ingredients and sausage mixture. Stir until just moistened, being careful not to overmix.
7 Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it gently six times.
8 Roll the dough out to a thickness of about 1/2 inch.
9 Using a two-inch circular cutter, cut out biscuits from the dough.
10 Place the cut biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet, leaving some space between each one.
11 Brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter.
12 Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
13 Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
14 Once done, remove the biscuits from the oven and serve them warm.

Enjoy your homemade Sausage Biscuits alongside your favorite breakfast accompaniments for a delicious and satisfying morning meal! 🌞🍽️
