Description

This Easy-Does-It Salisbury Steak recipe is a foolproof way to whip up a delicious meal in no time. Perfect for any occasion, whether you’re aiming for an elegant dinner or a cozy family meal. Serve it alongside creamy mashed potatoes or fluffy rice for a complete and satisfying dish. Plus, it reheats like a dream, making it a fantastic option for leftovers!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1-2 tbsp parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1-2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup beer
  • 1/2 cup ginger ale
  • 1 package onion soup mix
  • Optional: sliced mushrooms

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the lean ground beef, ground pork, water, breadcrumbs, egg, parsley, and dried oregano. Mix well until evenly combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into rounded balls about the size of your palm, then gently flatten them to resemble hamburgers, but not as flat.
  3. Roll each steak in flour, ensuring it’s coated evenly. Pat the flour onto the steak to help it stick.
  4. Heat the extra virgin olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and brown quickly on all sides. The goal here is not to fully cook the steaks, just to seal in the flavors.
  5. Remove any excess grease from the skillet, if necessary.
  6. Pour in the beer, ginger ale, and onion soup mix (and sliced mushrooms if using). Be sure to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  7. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the steaks simmer in the liquid for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are tender. Cover the skillet with a lid to keep the moisture in.
  8. If you prefer a thicker gravy, combine 2 tablespoons of flour with 2 tablespoons of cold water in a jar with a lid. Shake vigorously until smooth, then pour the mixture into the skillet with the steaks.
  9. Stir the gravy until it reaches your desired consistency. If the gravy seems too light in color, you can add a splash of gravy master and a few grinds of black pepper for extra flavor.
  10. Once the steaks are tender and the gravy is just right, remove from heat and serve hot alongside your favorite sides.

This Easy-Does-It Salisbury Steak recipe is sure to become a family favorite. With its simple preparation and delicious flavors, it’s a winner every time! Enjoy 😊🍽️
