These Milk Chocolate Toffee Bars are a decadent treat that takes a bit of extra effort to make but trust me, they’re absolutely worth it! Made with a rich crust, creamy filling, and topped with luscious chocolate and crunchy toffee bits, these bars are perfect for any occasion, whether it’s a special dessert for Christmas or a sweet indulgence for any time of year. Be sure to use Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk (or a brand you trust) for the best results. I’ve received numerous requests for this recipe, so I’m sharing it here for everyone to enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup margarine
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 1 3/4 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 1 1/3 cups toffee bits

Instructions:

Step Description Time
1 Preheat oven to 350Β°F (325Β°F for a glass pan).
2 Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
3 In a mixing bowl, cream together 3/4 cup margarine, 3/4 cup brown sugar, and 1 1/2 cups flour until well blended.
4 Press the mixture evenly into the prepared pan to form the crust.
5 Bake the crust for about 20 minutes, or until it’s lightly browned. 20 minutes
6 While the crust is baking, prepare the filling by heating the sweetened condensed milk and 2 tablespoons of margarine in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened. This will take about 5-10 minutes. 5-10 minutes
7 Once the crust is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly.
8 Spread the thickened milk mixture evenly over the crust.
9 Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the filling is golden brown. 15 minutes
10 Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle the milk chocolate chips evenly over the hot filling.
11 Place the pan back in the oven for about 2 minutes, or until the chocolate chips are melted. 2 minutes
12 Remove the pan from the oven and use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate evenly over the filling.
13 Sprinkle the toffee bits evenly over the melted chocolate.
14 Gently press the toffee bits into the chocolate using the back of a spoon.
15 Allow the bars to cool completely at room temperature.
16 Once cooled, refrigerate the bars for easier cutting.
17 Cut into squares before serving.
