Crispy Homemade Chicken Nuggets

Ingredients:

  • 2 boneless chicken breasts, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tablespoons tapioca flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 5 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 5 tablespoons seasoned flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 liter cooking oil

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken Mixture:

    • In a food processor or blender, combine diced chicken, garlic, salt, and black pepper. Blend until smooth.
    • Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add tapioca flour and egg. Mix until well combined.
  2. Steam the Chicken Mixture:

    • Heat water in a steamer pot. Place the chicken mixture in a heatproof dish or tray, spreading it evenly to about 1 cm thickness.
    • Steam for 30 minutes until cooked through. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
  3. Cut and Coat the Nuggets:

    • Once cooled, cut the steamed chicken into nugget-sized pieces according to your preference.
  4. Prepare the Breading Station:

    • Place panko breadcrumbs in one bowl and mix seasoned flour with water in another bowl until smooth.
  5. Coat the Nuggets:

    • Dip each chicken nugget first into the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring it’s well coated.
    • Next, coat the nugget thoroughly with panko breadcrumbs, ensuring an even coating.
  6. Chill and Fry:

    • Place the breaded nuggets in a container, cover tightly, and refrigerate for 1-2 hours to set.
  7. Fry the Nuggets:

    • Heat cooking oil in a deep pan or fryer over medium-high heat.
    • Fry the nuggets in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
    • Remove from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve:

    • Serve the crispy homemade chicken nuggets hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
