Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Serves: 6

Ingredients:

  • 6 slices of ham
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup beer or ale
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ham:

    • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
    • Lightly brown the ham slices on both sides in the melted butter. Once browned, remove the ham slices from the skillet and keep them warm.
  2. Make the Glaze:

    • In a bowl, whisk together the cornstarch, dry mustard, ground ginger, and ground cloves until well combined.
    • Slowly whisk in 1/4 cup of beer or ale into the cornstarch mixture until smooth.
  3. Cook the Glaze:

    • Pour the cornstarch and beer mixture into the skillet.
    • Add the remaining beer (3/4 cup) and the brown sugar to the skillet. Stir well to combine.
    • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and becomes smooth. This usually takes about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Glaze the Ham:

    • Once the glaze is smooth and thickened, return the ham slices to the skillet, coating each slice with the glaze.
    • Reduce the heat to low and simmer for a few minutes until the ham slices are heated through.
  5. Serve:

    • Transfer the glazed ham slices to a serving platter.
    • Serve hot, with the extra glaze served in a gravy boat on the side for dipping or drizzling over the ham slices.

Enjoy these delicious Beer Glazed Ham Slices as a savory and flavorful dish that’s perfect for any occasion, ready in just 30 minutes!
