Crispy Chicken Sempol Sticks

Title: Chicken Sempol Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 kg ground chicken
  • 1 egg
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 5 shallots, fried
  • 1 tsp ground pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 4 tbsp tapioca flour
  • 3 spring onions, thinly sliced
  • Cooking oil for frying
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (for coating)
  • Bread crumbs for coating
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce

Instructions:

  1. Blend the chicken and egg together until smooth.
  2. Add in the garlic, fried shallots, ground pepper, salt, all-purpose flour, tapioca flour, spring onions, and oyster sauce. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into small balls and insert an ice cream stick into each ball. Ensure your hands are lightly oiled to prevent sticking.
  4. If boiling, cook in hot water without boiling vigorously. Otherwise, deep fry the balls until golden brown on low heat.
  5. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Roll each ball in all-purpose flour, then coat generously with bread crumbs.
  7. Fry again on low heat until they turn golden brown.
  8. These can be stored in the freezer for future use.
