Ingredients:
- 1.5 sheets of Puff Pastry (Brand EDO recommended)
- 1 can Tomato Chili Tuna
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 3 tablespoons Sweet Corn (canned)
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
- Chili Powder (optional, to taste for added heat)
- Cooking Oil, for sautéing
- 2 hard-boiled eggs, cut into 6 pieces each
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Filling:
- Heat a small amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the sweet corn and cook for a few minutes until it’s heated through.
- Stir in the canned Tomato Chili Tuna, salt, and ground black pepper. Mix well to combine all the ingredients. If you prefer a spicier filling, add chili powder to taste. Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
-
Prepare the Puff Pastry:
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
- Cut the puff pastry into 11×11 cm squares. Lightly roll each square to make it slightly thinner.
- Place a spoonful of the tuna filling in the center of each pastry square. Add a few pieces of hard-boiled egg on top of the filling.
- Fold the pastry over the filling to form a pocket or rectangle, pressing the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a secure seal and a decorative touch.
-
Bake the Pastry:
- Arrange the prepared pastry bites on the lined baking sheet.
- Brush the top of each pastry with the beaten egg to give them a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 15 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and crispy.
-
Cool and Serve:
- Once baked, remove the puff pastry bites from the oven and transfer them to a cooling rack. Allow them to cool slightly before serving.
- Enjoy these savory bites warm with a side of tomato sauce or sambal for dipping.
Tips:
- Customization: Feel free to adjust the spice levels by varying the amount of chili powder or adding other spices according to your taste preferences.
- Make Ahead: These puff pastry bites can be assembled in advance and refrigerated until ready to bake. They also freeze well before baking, making them a great option for meal prep.
Enjoy your homemade savory tuna puff pastry bites, perfect for any occasion or simply as a delightful snack.
