Yellow Tuna Gulai Recipe
Ingredients:
- 5 small tuna fish (cut into 2 pieces each)
- Tofu, cut into small pieces (quantity to taste)
- 5 cloves garlic
- 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger
- 1 thumb-sized piece of turmeric
- Coconut milk, as needed
- 7 bird’s eye chilies
- 4 kaffir lime leaves (remove the central rib)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Ingredients:
- Clean the tuna fish and tofu thoroughly. Set aside.
-
Make the Spice Paste:
- In a blender or food processor, combine garlic, ginger, and turmeric. Blend until you achieve a smooth paste.
-
Cook the Base:
- In a wok or large pan, heat a bit of oil over medium heat. Add the coconut milk, spice paste, and kaffir lime leaves. Stir well to combine.
-
Simmer the Fish:
- Add the tuna pieces to the wok. Gently stir to coat the fish with the coconut milk mixture, being careful not to break the fish apart. Cook until the mixture starts to boil.
-
Add the Tofu:
- Once the mixture is boiling, add the tofu pieces. Season with salt to taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
-
Finish Cooking:
- Allow the dish to simmer until both the tuna and tofu are cooked through and tender. Ensure the coconut milk does not curdle by stirring gently and avoiding high heat.
-
Serve:
- Serve hot with steamed rice or as a flavorful side dish.
