- 20 grams cornstarch
- 50 milliliters water

- 3 red bird’s eye chilies, sliced diagonally
- 2 scallions, chopped
- 1 large onion, sliced lengthwise
- 2 tablespoons ngohiong seasoning (Chinese five-spice powder)
- 2 tablespoons chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
- 100 milliliters water
- Salt and pepper to taste
