Tuna Balado Sushi Rolls with Egg and Cucumber

Ingredients:

  • 1 pack Nori (Mamasuka)
  • 2 large eggs (for omelette)
  • 1 bowl tuna balado (spicy tuna)
  • 1 Japanese cucumber, sliced into long strips
  • Cooked sushi rice, seasoned with salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Rice: Begin by seasoning your warm sushi rice with a pinch of salt to enhance its flavor.

  2. Prepare the Egg Omelette: Heat a non-stick pan and make a thin omelette with the beaten eggs. Once cooked, set aside and let it cool.

  3. Assemble the Sushi Roll: Lay out a bamboo sushi mat covered with plastic wrap. Place one sheet of nori onto the mat.

  4. Add Rice: Spread a thin layer of seasoned rice evenly over the nori, leaving a small border at the top edge.

  5. Add Fillings: Arrange the egg omelette, tuna balado, and cucumber strips along the bottom edge of the rice-covered nori.

  6. Roll the Sushi: Gently lift the bamboo mat and start rolling the sushi away from you, applying light pressure to ensure a tight roll. Continue rolling until you reach the top edge of the nori.

  7. Slice and Serve: Using a sharp knife, slice the roll into bite-sized pieces. To prevent sticking, lightly wet the knife with water before cutting.

  8. Serve: Arrange the sushi rolls on a serving platter. Although traditional accompaniments include soy sauce and mayonnaise, you can enjoy these rolls with any preferred dipping sauce, such as sambal, for an extra kick.

Enjoy your homemade sushi rolls, beautifully combining the rich flavors of tuna balado with the freshness of cucumber and the heartiness of egg omelette!
