Ingredients
- 6 beef meatballs (bakso sapi), halved
- 10 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 medium bell peppers, roughly chopped
- 1 beefsteak tomato, roughly chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/2 large onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon Angciu (Chinese rice wine)
- 2 teaspoons oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon ABC chili sauce
- 1 teaspoon tomato sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon fish sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon vegetable seasoning powder (Royco)
- 4 stalks green onions, chopped
- 1/2 cup water
- A pinch of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dried chili flakes (optional, for extra heat)
- 1.5 tablespoons cooking oil
Instructions
-
Prepare the Stir-Fry Base: Heat the cooking oil in a large pan or wok over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and chopped onion, sautéing until they become fragrant and the onion turns translucent. Add the chopped bell peppers and halved beef meatballs to the pan, stirring frequently. Cook until the bell peppers start to soften.
-
Add Flavorings: Pour in the Angciu (Chinese rice wine) and stir well. Add the oyster sauce, ABC chili sauce, tomato sauce, and fish sauce to the pan. Mix everything thoroughly so the meatballs and vegetables are evenly coated with the sauces.
-
Incorporate Liquids and Seasonings: Gradually add the water to the pan, stirring continuously. Sprinkle in the vegetable seasoning powder and a pinch of salt. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
-
Add Shrimp and Tomatoes: Gently fold in the chopped tomato and shrimp. Cook for a few minutes until the shrimp turn pink and are just cooked through. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp, as they can become tough.
-
Finish and Serve: Optionally, sprinkle in dried chili flakes for added heat. Toss in the chopped green onions and give everything a final stir. Turn off the heat and serve immediately.
Enjoy this vibrant dish on its own or with steamed rice for a complete meal that’s both satisfying and full of flavor.
