Beef and Mushroom Puff Pastry
Ingredients:
- 1 package puff pastry
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 200 grams ground beef
- 100 grams mushrooms, diced
- 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg yolk, for egg wash
- Parmesan cheese, for sprinkling
- Oregano, for sprinkling
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Filling: Heat a pan over medium heat and sauté the finely chopped garlic and onion until they become fragrant and translucent. Add the ground beef and cook until browned and cooked through. Stir in the diced mushrooms and continue to cook until they are tender.
-
Season the Mixture: Add the tomato sauce to the pan, followed by the sugar, ground nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Mix well and cook for an additional few minutes until the flavors are well combined and the mixture has thickened slightly. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
-
Assemble the Pastries: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into square pieces. Place a spoonful of the beef and mushroom filling in the center of each square. If desired, add a sprinkle of cheese on top of the filling.
-
Fold and Seal: Fold the pastry squares into triangles, pressing the edges together to seal them. Use a fork to crimp the edges and ensure they are well sealed.
-
Add Toppings: Brush the tops of the pastries with the egg yolk to give them a golden finish. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and a pinch of oregano.
-
Bake: Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 40 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and crisp.
-
Serve: Allow the pastries to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm as a delicious appetizer or a savory snack.
