This delightful recipe for Ground Beef Stir-Fry with Green Bell Peppers and Young Corn brings together a harmonious blend of savory flavors and vibrant textures. Perfect for a quick weeknight meal, this dish features tender ground beef, crisp green bell peppers, and sweet young corn, all seasoned to perfection and thickened with a touch of cornstarch. Follow these simple steps to create a flavorful and satisfying dish that is sure to impress.

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams ground beef
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, sliced lengthwise and seeds removed
  • 8 young corn cobs, sliced diagonally
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/2 medium onion (optional; not used in this version)
  • 2 teaspoons fermented black beans (tausi)
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (I use Panda brand)
  • 1 small piece of ginger, thinly sliced (use sparingly as it can be quite strong)
  • Soy sauce, to taste
  • Salt, sugar, pepper, and seasoning, to taste
  • Cooking oil, for sautéing
  • 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 4-5 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (use sparingly)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Vegetables:

    • To make the cooking process easier, blanch the sliced green bell pepper and young corn in boiling water for about 5 minutes. This helps to soften them slightly and makes them more tender. After blanching, drain and set aside.
  2. Season the Ground Beef:

    • While the vegetables are blanching, season the ground beef with salt, pepper, soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Let it marinate for about 5-10 minutes. (If you’re short on time, you can skip the marinating step.)
  3. Sauté the Aromatics:

    • Heat some cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the finely chopped garlic and sauté until fragrant, but be careful not to let it brown too much.
  4. Cook the Beef:

    • Add the marinated ground beef to the pan. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef starts to change color.
  5. Add the Black Beans and Vegetables:

    • Stir in the fermented black beans and continue to cook for another minute. Add the blanched green bell peppers and young corn to the pan. Stir well to combine.
  6. Season and Thicken:

    • Season with additional salt, sugar, pepper, and seasoning to taste. Pour in the cornstarch mixture and stir continuously until the sauce thickens. If the mixture appears too dry, you can add a little water. Adjust the seasoning as needed.
  7. Finish with Sesame Oil:

    • Drizzle the sesame oil over the dish, giving it a final stir to incorporate the flavor.
  8. Serve:

    • Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles. Enjoy this easy and flavorful stir-fry that’s sure to become a family favorite!

This Ground Beef Stir-Fry with Green Bell Peppers and Young Corn is a versatile dish that can be adapted to your taste preferences. Feel free to adjust the seasoning and ingredients based on what you have on hand. Happy cooking! 😊
