Assemble the Siomay:
- Take a piece of spring roll wrapper.
- Lightly brush the edges of the wrapper with water using a brush or your fingers. Be careful not to over-wet the wrapper.
- Place about 1 teaspoon (or as desired) of the chicken mixture onto the center of the wrapper.
- Fold the edges of the wrapper towards the center, pressing them together to form a neat parcel. Repeat until all the chicken mixture is used.
-
Cook the Siomay:
- For Steamed Siomay: Place the siomay in the steamer basket, making sure they do not touch each other. Steam for about 20 minutes until fully cooked.
- For Fried Siomay: Carefully place the siomay in the hot oil and fry over medium heat. Ensure the oil temperature is not too high to allow the siomay to cook thoroughly without burning. Fry until golden brown and crispy.
-
Serve and Enjoy: Serve the siomay hot. The steamed version is soft and tender, while the fried version offers a delightful crispiness. Both are perfect as appetizers or snacks, and they are sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
This Chicken Siomay recipe provides a delightful blend of textures and flavors, with the convenience of using store-bought spring roll wrappers and no added MSG. Whether you prefer them steamed or fried, these siomay are a delicious treat that’s easy to prepare and enjoy.
