Sapi Lada Hitam (Black Pepper Beef)

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams of sirloin beef, sliced into teriyaki-style strips
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, coarsely chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 sachet of oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 1 teaspoon of coarsely ground black pepper (or ground black pepper)
  • 1 teaspoon of cornstarch, dissolved in a little water
  • Sugar and salt, to taste
  • Water, as needed

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Aromatics: Heat a little oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped garlic, onion, and diced green bell pepper. Sauté until the vegetables are fragrant and the onions are translucent.

  2. Cook the Beef: Add the sliced beef to the pan. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and cooked through.

  3. Add the Sauce Ingredients: Pour in enough water to cover the beef. Stir in the black pepper, sweet soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and salt. Mix well.

  4. Thicken the Sauce: Add the dissolved cornstarch to the pan and stir until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.

  5. Simmer: Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let it simmer until the beef is tender and the flavors meld together.

  6. Serve: Enjoy this savory black pepper beef hot with steamed rice for a perfect meal.
