Sate Goreng Daging Sapi Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg beef, cut into cubes
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 5 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 10 red bird’s eye chilies, sliced diagonally
  • 2 green tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 5 kaffir lime leaves, thinly sliced

Spice Paste (blend all together):

  • 10 cloves garlic
  • 10 candlenuts
  • 4 tablespoons oil
  • 4 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
  • 1 block palm sugar, thinly sliced
  • 10 tablespoons tamarind water, finely strained
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Beef:

    • Combine the beef with all the blended spice paste ingredients. Allow it to marinate for at least 1 hour to absorb the flavors.
  2. Cook the Beef:

    • Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Sauté the sliced shallots and bay leaves until fragrant.
    • Add the marinated beef to the pan, stirring well. The beef will release its juices; let it simmer until the liquid reduces and the beef becomes tender.
  3. Add Vegetables and Finish Cooking:

    • Stir in the sliced chilies, kaffir lime leaves, chopped tomatoes, and sliced onion. Cook for a few more minutes, ensuring the onions are just tender and not overly wilted.
  4. Taste and Serve:

    • Adjust the seasoning as needed, then serve the sate goreng daging sapi hot.

This Indonesian-style beef stir-fry is a delightful mix of savory, sweet, and spicy flavors, perfect for any meal. Enjoy it with steamed rice or your favorite side dishes!
