Beef Bulgogi
Ingredients:
- 250 grams of beef, thinly sliced
- 1 stalk of green onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/2 cm piece of ginger, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon of ground pepper
- 1 tablespoon of sweet soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1/2 teaspoon of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 100 ml of water
- 1 tablespoon of margarine
Steps:
-
Marinate the Beef:
- In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef with minced garlic, minced ginger, sweet soy sauce, honey, ground pepper, granulated sugar, and salt. Mix well to ensure the beef is evenly coated with the marinade. Let it marinate for about 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
-
Sauté the Aromatics:
- After the beef has marinated, heat a tablespoon of margarine in a large pan over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onion and sauté until fragrant and slightly caramelized.
-
Cook the Beef:
- Add the marinated beef along with all the marinade juices to the pan. Pour in the water and stir to combine. Cook over medium-high heat until the liquid has evaporated and the beef is cooked through, about 10-15 minutes.
-
Finish and Serve:
- Once the beef is cooked and the sauce has thickened, remove from heat. Sprinkle the thinly sliced green onions on top for a fresh burst of flavor.
Notes:
- Serving Suggestions: Serve the beef bulgogi over a bed of steamed rice for a complete meal. You can also accompany it with traditional Korean side dishes like kimchi, pickled radish, or sautéed vegetables for an authentic dining experience.
- Adjustments: Feel free to adjust the sweetness and saltiness of the dish by modifying the amount of honey and soy sauce to suit your taste. For a spicier version, you can add a dash of chili flakes or gochujang (Korean chili paste) to the marinade.
Enjoy this savory and sweet Korean classic, a delightful addition to your culinary repertoire!
