Kentang n Sapi: Savory Beef and Potato Delight

Ingredients:

  • 300 grams ground beef
  • 500 grams potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 3 red onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Approximately 250 ml water

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Aromatics:
    Heat the cooking oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the sliced red onions and sauté until they become fragrant and translucent.

  2. Cook the Beef:
    Add the ground beef to the pan. Stir occasionally, cooking until the beef starts to brown and is well mixed with the onions.

  3. Add Potatoes:
    Incorporate the thinly sliced potatoes into the pan. Pour in the water, ensuring the potatoes are mostly covered.

  4. Season the Dish:
    Stir in the soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Season with salt and ground black pepper.

  5. Simmer:
    Continue cooking over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Cook until the potatoes are tender and have absorbed the flavors, being careful not to break them up.

  6. Finish and Serve:
    Once the potatoes are cooked through and the sauce has slightly thickened, adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot and enjoy this comforting beef and potato dish.
