Capcay Ayam Bakso: A Flavorful Stir-Fry Delight
Ingredients:
- 1/4 kg chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 5 meatballs (bakso), sliced
- 1 cup napa cabbage, chopped
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 5 red chilies, sliced
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
- 5 bird’s eye chilies, sliced
- 2 stalks green onions, diagonally sliced
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 3 tablespoons sambal sauce
- 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce (kecap manis)
- Salt, chicken bouillon powder, and ground pepper, to taste
- Water, as needed
- Vegetable oil, for cooking
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Chicken: Begin by cutting the chicken into bite-sized pieces and washing them thoroughly. In a bowl, coat the chicken pieces with a small amount of sambal sauce, sweet soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Allow the chicken to marinate in the refrigerator for approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
-
Cook the Aromatics: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add the finely minced garlic and sauté until it becomes fragrant. Then, introduce the sliced red chilies and continue to cook until they soften.
-
Stir-Fry the Chicken: Add the marinated chicken to the skillet with the garlic and chilies. Pour in enough water to cover the ingredients and bring the mixture to a boil. Let it simmer until the water reduces and the chicken is cooked through.
-
Add Vegetables and Seasonings: Once the water has reduced, stir in the broccoli florets, napa cabbage, and meatballs. Season the mixture with oyster sauce, sweet soy sauce, sambal sauce, chicken bouillon powder, salt, and ground pepper. Adjust the seasoning according to your taste.
-
Finish with Aromatics: After the vegetables have softened and the flavors have melded, add the sliced onion and green onions. Continue cooking until the onions are tender and the green onions are wilted.
-
Serve: Transfer the Capcay Ayam Bakso to a serving dish and serve hot. Enjoy this savory and spicy stir-fry as a delightful main course!
Tip: For a more authentic flavor, you can add a splash of soy sauce or a pinch of sugar to balance the taste.
Happy cooking!
