Ingredients:

  • 1/4 pound chicken breast, filleted
  • 1 carrot
  • 6 green beans
  • 2 potatoes
  • For Marinating the Chicken:
    • Black pepper to taste
    • Ground pepper to taste
    • Salt to taste (use sparingly)
    • Worcestershire sauce (optional, if available)
  • For the Sauce:
    • 1 clove garlic, minced
    • 1 shallot, minced
    • 1 onion, sliced
    • 5 tablespoons tomato ketchup
    • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
    • Sugar to taste
    • Salt to taste
    • Ground pepper to taste
    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
    • 1 tablespoon cornstarch, mixed with a little water to make a slurry

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken:

    • Clean the chicken breast thoroughly and slice it into pieces according to your preference.
    • Marinate the chicken with black pepper, ground pepper, salt, and Worcestershire sauce (if using). Allow it to marinate for a few minutes so the flavors infuse into the chicken.
  2. Prepare the Vegetables:

    • Boil the carrot and green beans until tender.
    • Peel and cut the potatoes, then fry them until golden and crispy. Alternatively, you can boil the potatoes if preferred.
  3. Cook the Chicken:

    • Cook the marinated chicken in a non-stick pan or on a grill until it changes color and is cooked through. Ensure it is evenly browned and fully cooked.
  4. Make the Sauce:

    • In a pan, sauté the minced garlic and shallot until aromatic.
    • Add the sliced onion and cook until translucent.
    • Pour in 1 cup of water and stir in the tomato ketchup, sweet soy sauce, sugar, Worcestershire sauce (if using), salt, and pepper.
    • Allow the mixture to come to a boil.
    • Gradually add the cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce, stirring continuously until it reaches your desired consistency. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  5. Assemble the Dish:

    • Serve the cooked chicken on a plate alongside the boiled carrots, green beans, and fried or boiled potatoes.
    • Drizzle the sauce over the chicken and vegetables.

Enjoy your Chicken Steak Alaala, a comforting and flavorful dish perfect for any meal. Bon appétit!
