Crispy Tofu Egg Patties with Spicy Green Onion

Tahu Telur Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 blocks of tofu
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons Sajiku seasoning mix (or any all-purpose seasoning mix)
  • Chopped green onions (to taste)
  • For the spice paste:
    • 2 bird’s eye chilies
    • 3 cloves garlic
    • 6 shallots
    • Ground black pepper (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tofu:

    • Use a fork to mash the tofu until it is finely crumbled and smooth.
  2. Combine the Ingredients:

    • Crack the eggs and add them to the mashed tofu. Mix well to combine.
  3. Make the Spice Mixture:

    • Blend the bird’s eye chilies, garlic, and shallots into a fine paste. If you don’t have a blender, you can finely chop these ingredients.
    • Add this spice paste to the tofu and egg mixture.
  4. Add Seasonings and Flour:

    • Mix in the all-purpose flour and Sajiku seasoning mix. Stir until the mixture is well combined.
    • Fold in the chopped green onions.
  5. Cook the Tahu Telur:

    • Heat a non-stick skillet (Teflon) over medium heat and add a sufficient amount of cooking oil.
    • Once the oil is hot, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the skillet.
    • Cook each spoonful until the edges turn golden brown and the center is fully cooked, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  6. Serve:

    • Remove the cooked tahu telur from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
    • Serve hot with additional bird’s eye chilies on the side, if desired.
