Chicken Egg Rolls Recipe

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 500 grams chicken thigh fillet, cut into small pieces
  • 4 tablespoons Knorr chicken seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tapioca starch
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil (optional)
  • 2 eggs
  • Water, as needed

For the Skin:

  • 6 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon Knorr seasoning

Additional:

  • Aluminum foil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling:

    • Blend all the filling ingredients together until smooth. Once well combined, set aside.
  2. Make the Egg Roll Skin:

    • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, flour, cornstarch, and Knorr seasoning until smooth and well combined.
  3. Cook the Egg Roll Skin:

    • Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Pour a thin layer of the egg mixture into the pan, spreading it evenly to form a thin crepe-like layer. Cook until set and lightly golden, then flip to cook the other side. Repeat until all the batter is used up.
  4. Assemble the Egg Rolls:

    • Place one egg skin on a flat surface. Spread a portion of the chicken filling evenly over the surface. Roll up the skin tightly around the filling, creating a snug roll. If using, wrap each roll in aluminum foil to help maintain shape and prevent sticking.
  5. Steam the Egg Rolls:

    • Preheat your steamer or a large pot with a steaming rack. Arrange the egg rolls in the steamer, making sure they are not overcrowded. Steam for about 30 minutes, or until the filling is fully cooked and the rolls are firm.
  6. Finish and Serve:

    • Remove the egg rolls from the steamer and allow them to cool slightly. If desired, slice them diagonally to make them easier for kids to eat. You can choose to fry some immediately or freeze the rest for later use. To fry, heat oil in a pan and cook the egg rolls until crispy and golden brown.
  7. Enjoy:

    • Serve the egg rolls hot with your favorite dipping sauce. They make a great snack or appetizer, and having some on hand as a frozen meal can save you time and money!

These homemade chicken egg rolls are perfect for a delicious and satisfying snack or meal. By making them yourself, you can enjoy a flavorful treat without the need for store-bought versions. Plus, they’re a great way to avoid extra expenses on takeout and ensure that you have a wholesome option ready when you need it.
