Tahu and Tempe with Peanut Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 2 pieces of fried tofu, cut into cubes
  • 2 pieces of fried tempeh, cut into cubes
  • 2 handfuls of steamed bean sprouts
  • 3 cabbage leaves, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 tomato, sliced
  • Fried shallots, to taste
  • 1/2 clove garlic
  • 1/2 lemongrass leaf
  • Chili peppers, to taste
  • Palm sugar, to taste
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of pre-made peanut sauce (such as gado-gado sauce)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Sweet soy sauce, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Begin by grinding the garlic, chili peppers, lemongrass leaf, and salt into a smooth paste. This step infuses the base of your sauce with rich, aromatic flavors.

  2. Add the palm sugar and peanut sauce to the ground mixture. Continue grinding until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined and the paste is smooth.

  3. Gradually incorporate the water into the paste, mixing well. Adjust the sweetness and saltiness by adding more palm sugar or salt if needed. Add the sweet soy sauce and stir until everything is evenly blended.

  4. Arrange the fried tofu, fried tempeh, sliced cabbage, steamed bean sprouts, and tomato slices on a serving plate.

  5. Pour the prepared peanut sauce over the arranged ingredients. Garnish with fried shallots for added texture and flavor.

  6. Serve immediately and enjoy this delicious and satisfying dish!

This Tahu and Tempe with Peanut Sauce offers a delightful combination of textures and flavors, from the crispy tofu and tempeh to the fresh vegetables and rich, savory sauce. Perfect for a quick meal or as part of a larger spread!
