Cheery Nuggets (Tofu, Carrot, Egg, Noodles & Macaroni) 😄

Ingredients

Nugget Mixture:

  • 1 large tofu block, mashed
  • 2 eggs
  • 50 grams cooked macaroni, set aside
  • 1 pack instant noodles, crumbled, cooked, and drained
  • 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 stalk scallion, finely chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
  • 1 large carrot, grated with a cheese grater

Coating:

  • All-purpose flour diluted with a little water or 1 beaten egg
  • Salt, to taste
  • Breadcrumbs

Seasonings:

  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 sachet chicken or beef broth powder (such as Masako)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Nugget Mixture:

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed tofu, eggs, cooked macaroni, crumbled noodles, all-purpose flour, chopped scallion, chopped celery, and grated carrot.
    • Add the seasonings: finely crush the garlic and mix it in along with the pepper, salt, and broth powder. Stir well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
    • Pour the mixture into a prepared mold or baking dish.
  2. Steam the Nuggets:

    • Prepare a steamer and heat until fully hot. Make sure to cover the steamer lid with a clean cloth to prevent water droplets from falling into the nugget mixture.
    • Once the steam is hot and plentiful, place the mold with the nugget mixture into the steamer. Steam for about 30 minutes or until fully cooked.
    • Remove from the steamer and let the nugget mixture cool slightly.
  3. Shape and Coat the Nuggets:

    • Once cooled, cut the nugget mixture into your desired shapes and sizes.
    • Prepare the coating by diluting the flour with a little water or use a beaten egg. Add a pinch of salt to the coating mixture.
    • Dip each nugget piece into the coating mixture, then roll it in breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to ensure the breadcrumbs stick well.
  4. Store and Fry the Nuggets:

    • At this stage, the nuggets can be stored in the freezer for later use.
    • When ready to serve, heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the nuggets until golden brown and crispy.
    • Serve the nuggets hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as chili sauce or mayonnaise, for an extra delicious treat. 😋
