Crispy Spicy Tahu (Indonesian Fried Tofu)
Ingredients:
- 5 pieces of firm tofu, cut into cubes
- 150 grams of seasoned flour (bumbu tepung)
- 30 grams of rice flour
- 2 tablespoons of chili powder
- 3 cloves of garlic
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
- Sambal sauce for dipping (optional)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Tofu Mixture: Begin by crushing the garlic cloves and mixing them with a pinch of salt. Add a small amount of water to form a paste. Combine this garlic paste with the cubed tofu, ensuring all pieces are evenly coated. Set aside to allow the flavors to meld.
-
Prepare the Coating: In a mixing bowl, combine the seasoned flour, rice flour, and chili powder. Stir well to ensure the ingredients are evenly distributed.
-
Coat the Tofu: Gently roll each tofu cube in the flour mixture, making sure each piece is well-coated.
-
Fry the Tofu: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated tofu cubes. Fry the tofu until they are golden brown and crispy, which should take about 4-5 minutes.
-
Drain and Serve: Remove the tofu from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot, accompanied by sambal sauce for dipping if desired.
Enjoy this crispy, spicy tahu as a delightful snack or appetizer!
