Tahu Cabe Garam: A Flavorful Indonesian Delight

Ingredients:

  • 10 pieces of yellow tofu, cut into 9 pieces per tofu
  • 5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 5 shallots, thinly sliced
  • Red curly chilies, to taste
  • 3 green curly chilies, sliced diagonally
  • Sasa Hot & Spicy Flour Mix
  • Kobe All-Purpose Flour Mix
  • Mushroom seasoning or Royco, to taste
  • 1 stalk green onion, sliced diagonally

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tofu: Begin by mixing the Sasa Hot & Spicy Flour Mix with the Kobe All-Purpose Flour Mix in a bowl. Coat each piece of tofu with this flour mixture, ensuring it is evenly covered. Let the coated tofu sit for 5 minutes to allow the flour to adhere properly.

  2. Fry the Tofu: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the tofu pieces until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels.

  3. Sauté the Aromatics: In the same pan, sauté the chopped garlic and sliced shallots until fragrant and slightly golden. Add the red and green curly chilies and continue to cook until they are tender and the shallots are almost crispy.

  4. Season the Mixture: Add mushroom seasoning or Royco to the pan, stirring well to combine. Then, introduce the fried tofu pieces back into the pan.

  5. Combine and Serve: Toss everything together until the tofu is well-coated with the seasoning and chilies. Adjust seasoning if needed. Stir in the sliced green onions just before serving.

  6. Final Touch: Serve the Tahu Cabe Garam warm as a delightful snack or side dish. Enjoy the perfect blend of crispy tofu with spicy and savory flavors!

Tip: For extra crunch, you can double coat the tofu in the flour mixture before frying.
