Telur Balado Recipe
Ingredients:
- 500 grams of hard-boiled eggs, peeled and scored
- 2 kaffir lime leaves
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 100 ml water
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil for sautéing
Spice Paste:
- 3 red chilies
- 5 bird’s eye chilies
- 3 shallots
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 block of palm sugar
Instructions:
-
Begin by heating the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the spice paste and kaffir lime leaves. Sauté until fragrant, allowing the spices to release their aroma.
-
Add the water, salt, and sugar to the pan, stirring to combine. Let the mixture simmer for a minute to meld the flavors.
-
Gently add the peeled and scored eggs into the pan. Stir carefully to ensure the eggs are coated with the spicy sauce.
-
Cook the eggs over low heat, allowing the liquid to reduce and the spices to infuse into the eggs. Continue cooking until the sauce has thickened and nearly evaporated, leaving a rich coating on the eggs.
-
Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish. Serve hot with steamed rice for a delicious and flavorful meal.
Enjoy your Telur Balado—a perfect blend of spicy and sweet, ideal for a satisfying lunch or dinner!
