Spicy Tofu (Sambal Tahu)
Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu, cut into small cubes
- A handful of red chilies
- Optional: a few bird’s eye chilies (if you like it extra spicy)
- 3 shallots
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1/2 tomato
- 1/2 onion
- 1/2 cup water (adjust as needed)
- Cooking oil
- Salt, sugar, ground black pepper, and seasoning to taste

Prepare the Tofu:
- Boil the tofu cubes in water with a pinch of salt or seasoning until the flavors are absorbed.
- Heat a sufficient amount of oil in a pan and fry the tofu cubes until they turn golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

- Heat a small amount of oil in a pan. Add the sliced onion and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the blended sambal paste to the pan and cook, stirring frequently.
