Tahu Telor Sayur: A Delightful Indonesian Tofu and Vegetable Treat

Ingredients:

  • 6 small yellow tofu pieces (or 1 large white tofu)
  • 1 carrot, shredded
  • 1 stalk of green onion, finely sliced
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • For the spice blend:
    • 2 cloves garlic
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
    • Salt to taste
    • Sugar to taste
  • Margarine for greasing

Instructions:

  1. Begin by gently crumbling the tofu using your hands. Aim to break it into small, manageable pieces.

  2. Incorporate the spice blend into the crumbled tofu. For this, finely mince the garlic and mix it with ground black pepper, salt, and a touch of sugar to taste.

  3. Add the shredded carrot, sliced green onion, and the egg to the tofu mixture. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly combined.

  4. Prepare your steaming mold or pan by lightly greasing it with margarine to prevent sticking.

  5. Spoon the tofu mixture into the prepared mold, ensuring an even distribution.

  6. Steam the tofu mixture over low heat for approximately 20 minutes. To check for doneness, insert a toothpick into the center of the mixture; it should come out clean when ready.

  7. Once steamed, remove the tofu from the mold and let it cool slightly.

  8. To finish, briefly fry the tofu in a pan over low heat until the exterior becomes golden brown.

  9. Serve your Tahu Telor Sayur hot and enjoy this delicious Indonesian dish, perfect as a snack or part of a meal.

Note: This recipe highlights the harmony of tofu with vegetables and spices, creating a flavorful and satisfying treat. Enjoy the crispy exterior and soft, savory interior of this delightful dish!
