Tahu Telor: Super Simple Homemade Delight

Ingredients

Medium tofu 1 piece (cut into small cubes)
Eggs 2 pieces
Spice Paste:
Fried peanuts A handful
Bird’s eye chilies 5 pieces
Garlic 1 clove
Shrimp paste ½ tablespoon
Salt To taste
Palm sugar To taste
Other Ingredients:
Sweet soy sauce To taste
Boiled bean sprouts To taste
Celery (thinly sliced) 1 stalk
Fried shallots To taste
Steamed rice or lontong For serving
Crackers For serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk the eggs, then gently fold in the cubed tofu. Fry until golden brown and cooked through, then set aside.
  2. In a blender or mortar, grind the fried peanuts, chilies, and garlic into a smooth paste. Add water and sweet soy sauce, mixing until well combined. Set this flavorful sauce aside.
  3. Prepare a serving of rice or lontong on each plate. Top with the fried tofu and egg mixture, boiled bean sprouts, and sliced celery. Generously drizzle the peanut sauce over the top.
  4. Finish with a sprinkle of fried shallots for extra crunch and flavor.
  5. Serve your Tahu Telor warm, accompanied by crackers for a delightful crunch.
