Gulai Ikan Kakap ala Aku

Ingredients

1 kg Ikan kakap
10 pcs Cabe rawit merah
2 pcs Tomat merah
3 leaves Daun salam
1 piece Ruas laos (smashed)
3 leaves Daun jeruk wangi
2 pcs Serai (smashed)
Ground Ingredients
4 cloves Bawang putih
6 cloves Bawang merah
2 pcs Kemiri (toasted)
3 pcs Cabai merah besar
2 pcs Asam kandis
1 piece Ruas kunyit
1 piece Ruas jahe
1/2 tsp Ketumbar halus
1/2 tsp Merica
Garam, gula, royco (to taste)
1 pack Santan Kara
Air (water)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fish: Clean the ikan kakap and cut it into 2 or 3 pieces. Squeeze lime juice and sprinkle salt over it, then set aside to marinate.

  2. Sauté Aromatics: In a pan, heat some oil and sauté the ground ingredients along with the smashed herbs: daun salam, daun jeruk, asam kandis, and laos until fragrant.

  3. Add Liquids: Pour in the water and add the santan Kara. Stir well and bring to a boil.

  4. Cook the Fish: Gently add the ikan kakap to the boiling broth, ensuring it’s well coated with the sauce. Flip the fish to evenly distribute the spices and cook until done.

  5. Serve: Once cooked, transfer the fish and sauce to a serving dish and enjoy your delicious Gulai Ikan Kakap!
